Gas Stem  The gas stem height dictates the height of the seat, so it is crucial you take the time to ensure that it will suit your height. There are four gas stem options which should be selected based on your height. The short gas spring is suitable for users under 150 cm; the medium, for users under 170 cm; and the long spring, for users that are over 170 cm. Upholstery There is a range of fabric options available. 90 percent of customers select leather because it is the most durable fabric.

 

Castors As a standard, the stools come with castors suitable for hard floors. However, we can supply other castors including castors for carpets, lockable castors, and loaded castors.

 

Footring The footring is designed to be fastened at the bottom of the gas stem and is designed to provide a firm support surface for the feet when sitting in a higher position. Please note that the footring can make it more difficult to manoeuvre the chairs, as you must position your feet around it.

 

Foot Adjuster Occasionally, professionals need to keep their hands free. In these situations, some people prefer to use a foot adjuster to control the height of the stool. The foot adjuster is positioned just above the stool base and allows easy height adjustment with the press of the foot

 

Allround Support The Allround support is most popular for dentists, dental surgeons, or dental assistants. It connects to the gas stem and rotates all around the chair, which gives a lot of flexibility to where it can be used. It can act as a support for one hand, both hands, or as a stretching support. The Allround support can be used with all Salli chair models.

 

Stretching Support/Back Support The small lumbar stretching support allows users to stretch back whilst they are sitting. This accessory can only fit on the Salli MultiAdjuster & Small MultiAdjuster, the Salli Twin, and the Classic. Please note that if you want the stretching support, you also need to purchase a larger base for stability reasons. The support is available in the leather and artificial leather colours.

 

ErgorestsThe Ergorests are designed to support the upper limbs for repetitive backwards and forwards movements and are most popular for dentists and doctors doing repetitive upper limb movements. Research There are no large, independent, gold-standard RCTs on the long-term benefits of any chair brand that we know of. In the absence of the gold standard, we look to what information is available.

Salli has completed some small studies over the years covering the effects of Salli on dentists’ posture, sitting pressure distribution, and hip angle. These studies are small and have not been replicated in larger studies, so you need be cautious when looking at the findings.

The most prominent finding that has been highlighted over the years is that of the effect of split saddle sitting on pressure on the genital area. Interestingly, when some users used a pressure-sensitive mat to record sitting pressure on different chairs, they found that the split saddle seemed to reduce the pressure on the genital area.

Aside from the research by Salli, there is a small body of evidence that has focused on the effects of saddle sitting on posture. These studies have mainly been done on dentists and dental students because of the high incidence of musculoskeletal issues in this professional group. In general, the early findings support the idea of saddle-shaped seats as a way of encouraging a more upright posture when working on patients.

How much effort do you need to put in? There is little research on what causes this, but it seems possible that it is related to the body adapting to the new sitting position.

What is the different between the Twin and MultiAdjuster? The only difference is that the MultiAdjuster allows you to change the width between the two parts of the saddle. We have found this adjustment to be most popular for people who are shorter or have a narrow pelvis. We have also found that some people are more sensitive to the contours of a seat, and for these people, the ability to manipulate the position the 2 parts of the saddle can make sitting more comfortable.

 

 

What is the difference between the Swing Fit and Multi? The MultiAdjuster incorporates a lever-based forward-and-backwards tilting mechanism, whilst the Swing fit incorporates a Swing mechanism, which allows the stool to move in all directions.

 

How far does the seat move? The lever-based tilt enables you to rotate the seat top up to 20-30 degrees anteroposteriorly (forwards/down and backwards/up).

Why does using the Allround support reduce the height range of the stool? This happens quite simply because the upper-limb support attaches to the gas stem and so it takes up some of the length of the central shaft, which in turn limits how far up and down the stool will move. If your stool is only being used by one person, a reduction in seat height range will not impact the use of the stool.

 

Can the Salli Allround support be taken off or added on at a later date? Yes, retrofitting the support or taking it off is simple. You would need to use the disassembly tools, but we can send these to you and the whole process would only take 5-10 minutes.

 

Should I be getting an upper-limb support for a Salli chair? Not every person wants or needs a support, and we most commonly get asked for advice on this from individuals who already have a neck and/or shoulder issue. The Allround support tends to be most beneficial when the user needs to hold their upper limbs in front of them in static positions for long periods of time and wants to be able to take some strain off the shoulders. The Ergorest has become the most popular support for professionals who are repeatedly moving their arms backwards and forwards during procedures.

 

What is the difference between the Salli Ergorest Twin and the Multi option?The only difference is that the MultiAdjuster allows you to change the width and angle between the two parts of the saddle

 

Should I get a backrest? Most people who get a saddle stool by Salli will sit forwards and will not really use a backrest. Occasionally, we do find customers who really find a backrest helpful. We don’t know why this is, but some people are psychologically attached to a backrest, and so having something they can use seems to help. Equally, some people do get fatigued in their lower/mid spine and will use the stretching support to offload during the day. If you aren’t sure about getting a support, you could always enquire about getting the chair without one and then adding it in at a later date.

 

Who should use the Swing? Most people who trial one of our Swing chairs get on very well. We have found a small number of individuals who have recently had back surgery and have very limited core stability tend to find the dynamic nature of the stool a little challenging, and for these individuals, we have had much better success with a fixed-lever seat such as a Twin or Multi.

 

How far does the seat move on a Swing? Whilst the seat can move in 3 dimensions, the actual range of movement is extremely well controlled. The seat top moves less than 5 degrees in each direction. By strictly controlling the range of movement, the stool facilitates active sitting whilst enabling dentists to still perform precise dental work.

 

What is the difference between the Swing and Swing Fit? Both stools have exactly the same core features, and the only difference between them is that the split between the two parts of the saddle is fixed on the Swing but not on the Swing Fit. Indeed, on the Swing Fit you can adjust the width and angle between the two sides of the split seat, making it more suitable for females whilst the fixed split is more suitable for men.

We have found that most people with pre-existing back pain that is initially relieved when standing prefer the MultiAdjuster chair because it offers the most anterior posterior tilt range. In turn, the extra range gives you more flexibility with how you position your spine over the day.
